Elbrus Capital buys into Russian B2B-Center

Russian Private Equity firm Elbrus Capital, that manages two funds with total assets of over US$ 600 million, has acquired a significant minority stake of 23 per cent in B2B-Center, the largest operator of an online procurement marketplace in Russia. The procurement platform will use the funds to expand its operations and fortify its current market position. B2B-Center already has prior funding from an investor consortium led by DaVinci Partners and Insight Venture Partners; also participating in that 2012 round of funding were Runa Capital and Alpha Associates, each of whom acquired a minority stake in the company.

B2B-Center is a Moscow-based online procurement platform that services more than 120,000 clients from 90 nations. The portal allows users to list their products and services and procure these from sellers. Over 2.5 trillion rubles worth of business has already been conducted through the portal, involving 230,000 trading transactions. The company holds a strong 40 per cent of the market share in Russia, and offers around 40 different types of trading procedure choices for the B2B segment.
