EU rules, bitcoin, blockchain to be discussed at European payments forum

Bankers and financial services officials are getting together in Barcelona this week for BizzPay 7.0 – European Corporate and Retail Payments Forum, to be held on June 13-14.

The conference will look at how PSD2, a revised version of the European Commission’s Payment Services Directive, has worked since it came into force in January 2018. Speakers will describe several case studies and talk about challenges PSD2 has confronted them with.

PSD2 is due to take full effect on September 14, 2019, after the current transition period.

The agenda also includes debates on bitcoin as a global payment mechanism, on whether blockchain technology is going to change the entire payments landscape, and on how far off we are from a completely cashless society.

EmergingMarkets.me readers will be eligible for a 10 per cent ticket price discount. To receive it they should quote the code EM10GLCBPRMC.

The forum has been organised by Global Leading Conferences (GLC), a Budapest-headquartered event organisation company.

The conference will take place at the Hotel Novotel Barcelona City, Avinguda Diagonal, 201, 08018 Barcelona.
