EXCLUSIVE: Sberbank hires UniCredit banker to run equity options trading

Sberbank, Russia’s biggest lender, has hired Bill Beller from UniCredit as head of equity options trading in its investment arm Sberbank CIB.

Beller takes up his Moscow-based job on February 1, Sberbank said in a statement.

During his work at UniCredit, Beller headed an equity derivatives flow trading team that worked with institutional clients in Russia, Poland, other countries in Central and Eastern Europe, and Turkey.

Before joining the Italian bank Beller spent eight and a half years as head of equity derivatives trading for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Citigroup.

Beller’s appointment is the latest in a string of senior hires as Sberbank CIB builds out its team.

This appointment is the latest in a number of senior hires as Sberbank CIB expands and enhances its team. In DCM, the company recently appointed Vlada Gosal as a Managing Director and Eduard Jabarov as a Director. Senior additions to the Global Markets team include Robert Hagon who was appointed Co-Head of Equity Sales Trading, Managing Director, Peter Holowka as Head of E-FX, Managing Director, for Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Division (FICC), and Dean Tyler who was appointed as Head of International FICC Sales, Managing Director, for FICC.
