Grishin Robotics Invests $250,000 Into the RobotAppStore

Grishin Robotics, the personal robotics fund kickstarted by Mail.Ru Group co-founder and CEO Dmitry Grishin, has pumped $250,000 into RobotAppStore, an open, online marketplace for robotics applications.

The investment firm had earlier backed Y Combinator graduate Double Robotics with the exact same amount. In both cases, detailed terms of the deal were not disclosed.

RobotAppStore marketplace enables users around the world to purchase and download hundreds of applications that extend the functionality of any types of ‘personal’ robot – from Roomba vacuum cleaners to the AR.Drone quadcopter and whatnot. Developers can add their own applications to the online marketplace (and receive 70 percent of future earnings).

The concept of ‘Cloud robotics’, which implies ability of all robots to connect to the internet, share a common knowledge database and seamlessly upgrade their functions in real-time, is a soon-to-be future; one reminiscent of the of personal computer industry.”
