Mark Mobius quitting as head of Templeton EM Investment Trust

Famous investor Mark Mobius is stepping down as head manager of the Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust but will remain at the helm of the Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Group, which manages the trust, according to media reports.

As of October 1, Mobius will be succeeded as head of the London-based trust by Carlos Hardenberg, who today oversees the Turkey operation of Franklin Templeton Investments, the emerging markets group’s parent company.

Mobius, whom The Daily Telegraph has described as a “legendary emerging markets investor”, founded the trust 26 years ago.

He has won multiple professional accolades.

Mobius, who was born in New York, holds a doctorate in economics and political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He had previously been educated at Boston University, the University of Wisconsin, the University of New Mexico and Kyoto University in Japan.
