Renaissance Capital hires utilities analyst for Russia, Europe, Africa

Investment bank Renaissance Capital has hired Sergey Beiden, a former senior strategist at Russian electricity generator Quadra, as utilities analyst for Russia, Africa and European emerging markets.

Beiden will be based at RenCap’s Moscow office, the bank said in a statement.

Beiden worked as a utilities equity analyst for various investment bnks between 2007 and 2015 with a position as senior utilities analyst at Russia’s Otkritie being his latest bank job before he joined Quadra in 2015.

He has also worked for Carana Corporation, a US economic development solutions provider, and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Beiden, who holds degrees in finance, mathematics and theoretical and applied physics and has published more than 45 papers in various scientific journals, will report to Daniel Salter,‎ RenCap’s London-based head of research for Eurasia.

Earlier on in 2018, RenCap made a series of key hires for its research team. Ahmed Hafez joined as head of research for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Gregory Smith as a sovereign debt strategist, and Ivan Kachkovski as an equity analyst for banking and financial sectors.
