Russia’s Renaissance Capitalhas appointed former Deutsche Bank researcher Ryan Apache as senior banking analyst in its equity research team forthe Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

During his tenure at Deutsche Bank’s United Arab Emirates-based unit for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA), which he joined in 2009, Ayache produced “key reports on the broader emerging markets space, including a major global study on Islamic banking and research on the African banking sector”, RenCap said in a statement.

His team at Deutsche “was consistently ranked among the top three in the annual Institutional Investor survey in 2011-2013”, the Moscow-based investment bank said.

Ayache, whose appointment “marks a further step in the ongoing build-out” of RenCap’s business in the MENA region, led financials research at French brokerage’s Credit Agricole Cheuvreux operation for the Middle East from 2007 to 2009.

He will report to David Nangle, RenCap’s head of equity research, and Ahmed Badr, head of MENA equities, who has also been appointed aschief executive of a RenCap office in Dubai scheduled to open this year.
