Russia’s Renaissance Capital has hired Ozlem Turgay from Merrill Lynch as an equity salesperson for its Istanbul office.

Turgay will report to Benjamin Samuels, global head of equities at RenCap, and to Burak Akbulut, head of execution for Turkey, the Moscow-based investment bank said in a statement.

Turgay has held Istanbul- and New York-based equity sales jobs while at Merrill. She also had an eight-month stint, also in equity sales, at Garanti Securities, a subsidiary of Turkish bank Garanti.

“In our opinion, Turkey is one of the most exciting structural growth stories across Europe right now,” Samuels said.

Renaissance, which has moved from a period of sustained losses to profitability since being bought out by Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov’s Onexim Group a year ago, continues to hire for senior positions in Russia, Turkey, Africa, London and New York.

Samuels himself, who is based in London, is among the newcomers. Harry Stanford is joining in mid-November as a London-based director in equity sales trading, and Ilya Lobanov has been hired as a director for the equity sales team in Moscow.
