Russia's RenCap promotes Ilgin Erdogan to chief exec of Turkey office

Renaissance Capital has promoted its head of Turkey research, Ilgin Erdogan, to chief executive of the Russian investment bank’s Turkish office.

Erdogan remains chief researcher for Turkey in addition to his new duties, which he took up on December 19, RenCap, which focuses on emerging and frontier markets, said in a statement.

Erdogan joined RenCap in 2012 by being hired as a senior Turkish equities analyst for the firm’s Istanbul office and was promoted to head of research for Turkey in 2013.

In his new role as head of the office he reports directly to RenCap chief executive Igor Vayn, who described him as a “very experienced and highly ranked research analyst with over 15 years’ track record in Turkey and across the EEMEA [Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa] space”.

“We have made a significant investment into our Turkey franchise,” Vayn said.

RenCap made a series of hires for the Istanbul office before.

Ozlem Turgay joined the equity sales team in 2013. Earlier in 2014, Mike Harris was recruited as head of Turkey product after 19 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and David George was appointed as head of Turkey trading and head of equities after 18 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs.
