Moscow-based buyout fund Unicorn Capital Partners with target capitalisation of $500m has announced its first acquisition, the purchase of controlling interest in Constanta Group, one of Russia’s largest designers and manufacturers of translucent façade systems and other glass products.

Unicorn, whose main objective is to buy out undervalued small and medium enterprises in infrastructure industries in need of operational restructuring and operates in Russia, the CIS, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, acquired a stake of 50% plus one share in Constanta, the private equity fund said in a statement.

Constanta is a vertically-integrated company specialising in designing, manufacturing and installing translucent façade systems and in glass processing for construction applications. Last year it had a consolidated turnover of 1.4bn rubles ($42.5m). It has customers in Kazakhstan, Baltic countries and Europe as well as Russia.
