Blondel, who will be based in Moscow and has more than 20 years’ experience in international foreign exchange markets, is due to take up his job at the fixed income, currencies and commodities (FICC) division this month once the regulator has approved his appointment, Sberbank CIB said in a statement.

He will report to Andrey Chuprin, head of fixed income and derivative products sales, and Steven Weller, head of foreign exchange trading.

Blondel had worked for JP Morgan Chase and Citibank before joining ABN AMRO in 2004. As his latest job, he was head of Western European banks foreign exchange sales at RBS, where he oversaw a team of seven salespeople.

The FICC unit has welcomed a series of newcomers this year.

Sascha Prinz has joined as head of rates, Francois Mantion as head of commodity trading, Steven Weller as head of foreign exchange trading, Nick Harwood as head of equity, Raymond Bird as head of strategic equity financing, and Damian Bunce as head of direct market access.
