Sberbank hires manager from UBS to help get private banking off the ground

Sberbank Private Banking, a newly set-up division of Russia’s Sberbank, has given a senior managerial role to Anna Tokaeva from Swiss bank UBS, where she has held top positions in wealth and asset management.

Tokaeva spent 12 years with UBS, being posted in Chicago and Moscow, before coming over to help develop what is a new line of business for Sberbank, Russia’s biggest lender.

Her latest job with the Swiss firm was that of executive director of the wealth management unit for Russia. Previously she headed UBS’s asset management operation for the country.

“Our objective now is to start offering affluent private clients a fully fledged product line and new service format, which will meet the highest international standards of quality. We are delighted that such a world-class professional as Anna has joined our team and we wish her the best of luck,” a Sberbank statement quoted Elena Shilina, head of private banking, as saying.
