Troika hires fund management head from Renaissance

By Ivan Anderzhanov

Troika Dialog has hired Anton Rakhmanov to run its asset management business less than three months after its founder Pavel Teplukhin quit the Moscow group.

Rakhmanov, who will oversee the Troika Dialog Asset Management., joins in May. He has 15 years experience and has been hired from rival Renaissance Investment Management, where he oversaw an investment portfolio worth $1.5 billion.

From 2000 to 2007,  Rakhmanov worked as a fund manager for Unifund  in Switzerland, where he oversaw a portfolio of blue-chip and second-tier stocks, bonds and private-equity investments totalling some $1bn.

He is the second major hire by Troika Dialog in less than a week following the appointment of Will Hammond to run its global equity sales.

Russian banks such as Troika and Renaissance are turning their attention towards rebuilding their fund management units following a resurgence in capital markets. However, domestic fund flows into Russian retail PIFs are still minisicule, according to local fund sources.
