Vienna risk management forum to look into Brexit, CEE risks, cybersecurity

With Brexit being a serious challenge to bankers, the extensive agenda of this September’s planned 7th Annual Risk Management Forum in Vienna includes a session on what the conference organisers describe as a “new generation of risks” posed by Britain’s planned 2019 secession from the European Union.

The forum, to be held on September 14-15, will also look into “big risks” in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), cybersecurity, developments in risk management, counterparty credit risks, and the use of data science techniques in risk management.

There will be discussions on what kinds of risk are worth taking.

The conference will hear a large number of speakers, most of whom are senior figures in major commercial banks such as Italy’s UniCredit, Germany’s DZ Bank, Postbank and DekaBank, Spain’s Santander, Austria’s Erste Group, which focuses on Central and Eastern Europe, Emirates Islamic, which is a Dubai-based bank providing sharia-compliant services, Russia’s VTB Capital, and Turkey’s Garanti.

One of the speakers is the chief risk officer of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), the euro zone permanent bailout fund.

The conference organiser is Global Leading Conferences (GLC), an event management company based in Budapest.

The forum will take place at the Park Royal Palace hotel. Its dates and venue are the same as those for another GLC-organised conference, the 4th European Payments Forum, which we announced on our website on April 20.
