Online brokerage ActivTrades has reported a profit and turnover for 2020 that it says are the highest annual volumes since the company was set up 20 years ago.
The London-based brokerage, which provides services in more than 140 countries in 14 languages, offering more than 1,000 contract-for-differences (CFD) or spread-betting instruments, registered a pretax profit of 21.8m pounds sterling ($29.4m) and an after-tax profit of 18.8m pounds ($25.4m) for 2020, the firm said in a statement.
Its turnover more than doubled year-on-year to hit 46.5m pounds ($62.8m).
ActivTrades attributed its success to increased financial market volatility in 2020, especially in March and April, and to the growing popularity of its
ActivTrader trading platform, which was launched in 2018 and offers “a range of advanced features”.
ActivTrader is available on desktop, smartphone and tablet.
The company also uses the MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 platforms.
ActivTrades, which operates in foreign exchange, indices, stock, commodity, financials and exchange-traded fund (ETF) markets, said its total number of clients actively trading at the end of 2020 was up 9 per cent year-on-year.
Besides its headquarters in the City of London, ActivTrades has offices in Milan, Sofia, Nassau in The Bahamas and Luxembourg. The Luxembourg office was opened at the end of 2020 to ensure a “seamless” post-Brexit transition for European clients.
