Balyasny Asset Management promotes seven execs to partner role

Chicago-headquartered global firm Balyasny Asset Management (BAM) has made seven additions to its group of partners.

All seven joined BAM between 2013 and 2021, according to a statement from the asset management firm. They are:

Mayank Chamadia, a portfolio manager and co-head of BAM’s New York office. Chamadia’s pre-BAM career included jobs with Barclays Capital, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs.

Steven Goldberg, global head of macro and a member of BAM’s investment committee based in Greenwich, Connecticut. Before joining BAM, Goldberg worked at U.S. multinational financial services company Citadel, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan and Citibank.

Jay Hew, a portfolio manager, head of Asia Macro and co-head of the Singapore office. Hew was with J.P. Morgan in London before coming to BAM. He is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay as well as English.

David Levary, macro portfolio manager based in the Miami office. Levary joined BAM from Citadel.

Patrick Staub, industrials portfolio manager based at the Miami office. Staub joined BAM from U.S. hedge fund Point72. Earlier on, Staub had worked at Citadel and the United States’ investment bank Piper Sandler and private equity firm CIVC Partners.

Caesar Yuan, a macro portfolio manager specialising in interest rates and central bank policies and based in the London office. He worked at Goldman Sachs before being hired by BAM.

Chris Weltzer, an industrials portfolio manager and co-head of the Chicago office. He was with the United States’ hedge fund Anchor Bolt Capital and investment bank Robert W. Baird & Co.
