Reuters Events is due to run a free interactive webinar on April 28 to look into how companies following environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment criteria can help emerging markets to survive the havoc wrought by Covid-19 and to cope with climate change effects in this situation.
The one-hour webinar, ‘ESG in Emerging Markets: How Will Emerging Markets Countries and Companies Fight Coronavirus and Climate Change?’, starts at 2.30pm BST/9.30am EDT (1330 GMT) on Tuesday April 28.
You may register for the event here.
The speakers will join the audience during the webinar in pondering whether emerging markets have the fiscal space to combat Covid-19, the consequent recession, and climate change.
Other issues to be raised include whether a green infrastructure spending boom can revive growth in the wake of Covid-19.
The speakers are:
Claire Meier Underhill, director for UK operations at the Emerging Markets Investors Alliance, a support and promotional non-profit;
Fergus McCormick, director and head of research at the Emerging Markets Investors Alliance;
Jahan Chowdhury, country engagement director, NDC Partnership, a climate and development initiative;
Gianleo Frisari, climate change economist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), a development lender for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The WTO forecasts global trade to fall this year by between 13 and 32 per cent.
Registered webinar participants will receive a recording of the event if they cannot join live.
