Sberbank, Russia’s biggest lender, has hired Tamas Haiman from Citibank as head of global markets at Sberbank Europe AG, its Central and Eastern European operation.

Haiman, who joins Sberbank on February 3, will be based in Vienna and report to Igor Strehl at Sberbank Europe and Alexey Zaytsev at the global markets department of Sberbank CIB, Sberbank’s investment arm, the firm said in a statement.
Besides his four-year London-based job at Citi, Haiman has worked at Barclays Capital, also in London, at Societe Generale, and at ING Barings in Budapest.
Sberbank Europe AG manages nine universal banks – a network of 280 branches – in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Ukraine. It has about 4,500 employees.
