Hires & Fires
VTB Capital, the Russian investment bank, is carrying on its hiring spree with the appointment of Ivan Tchebeskov from Swiss bank UBS as a director of equity sales.
Tchbeskov had been a director for Russian equities at UBS for three years in Moscow and New York.
VTB, which last week lured a sales and trading team from Troika Dialog, has also recruited Valery Doronin as a director for its private equity and special situations group. Doronin had been part of a similar team at Troika headed by Giedrius Pukas.
Russia’s relaunched investment bank Aton Capital has hired three executives to run its sales, research divisions, along with a head for its private equity arm.
Ilay Veller and Alexei Yazykov, both previously at Renaissance Capital, have been hired to run the sales and research teams. Veller had been responsible for second tier block trading at Rencap, while Yazykov had been a director in the real estate research team.
Dmitri Moiseyev has also been tapped as managing director of the private equity division Aton Capital Partners. He had previously been an investment director of Technoprom, a private equity and venture capital firm.
Aton is re-entering the investment banking market two years after its owner sold the group’s institutional business to Italy’s Unicredit for $424m. Aton has recently hired Peter Westin, head of Russian strategy at JP Morgan. David Armanyan, who left Troika Dialog in November, is also believed hired for a sales role.
Aton, which is believed to be hiring about 50 staff for its new equity brokerage, declined to comment.
Meanwhile, Troika Dialog has appointed Paolo Zaniboni as head of the company’s London office to replace Howard Snell. Zaniboni, who had recently relocated to London from Moscow, had been with Troika since June 2007 and will continue his work as head of research.
