Research firm Insurance Nexus has interviewed senior company experts about the role of “intelligent” automation in the insurance business as opposed to routine robotics.
The London-based research firm recorded the answers in a whitepaper entitled “Insurance Success Stories: How valuable is intelligent automation, really?”
Insurance generally involves repetitive tasks and use of highly structured data, and that is something that simple robotic process automation (RPA) can easily cope with.
But more creative forms of artificial intelligence (AI) can revolutionise the industry, according to the interviewees, who present case studies and talk about ways of moving from simple robotics to “intelligent” automation.
The interviewees are Steve Tait, head of claims automation at RSA; Christophe Castan, head of artificial intelligence and digital transformation at AXA Belgium; Scott Jacobs, operations excellence lead at QBE; Roger Lewis, chief underwriting officer at NN Group; and Alessandra Chiuderi, head of customer data analytics at Generali.
