Poland’s government has launched a promotion programme for the country’s booming information and communication technology sector and invites investors into the industry.

The European Union-funded IT/ICT Business Promotion Programme, launched by Poland’s Economy Ministry, aims to create new Polish brands and will be publicised through planned roadshows in Poland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Brazil, Japan, and the United States.

Between 1996 and 2008, Polish ICT-related exports were growing by 28% per year, according to a statement from M Promotion, a Warsaw-based business promotion agency.

The healthcare, telecommunications, financial, defence and automotive sectors are areas where the majority of Poland’s IT projects have been pursued recently. Producers of electronic games have been growing in number, and IT-related businesses have been hiring quite intensively.

The IT/ICT Business Promotion Programme (www.poland-it.pl), is part of the Innovative Economy Operational Programme, an EU project for Poland launched in October 2007.
