Nedbank, one of South Africa’s biggest lenders, is co-sponsoring a planned high-profile conference late this month that aims to promote the role of women in African economies.
The theme of the conference, to be held in Cape Town on October 29-30, is “Enhancing Impact: Digitalisation, Investment and Intra-African Trade”, according to the Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF), a nonprofit promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa.
The event is an annual AWIEF conference.
Nedbank’s senior manager for enterprise development, Nirmala Reddy, will be one of the more than 60 speakers at the event.
Nigeria’s First City Monument Bank (FCMB) is another commercial lender to take part in the conference.
World Bank and the South African Reserve Bank (central bank) are also going to be represented.
Shell, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and Africa- and Middle East-focused media group APO are among the conference sponsors.
