Nick Jordan makes a comeback as head of UBS

By Ivan Anderzhanov

Nick Jordan, the former head of Lehman Brothers in Moscow, has made a surprising comeback as the head of Russia and CIS for Swiss bank UBS.

Jordan, who was allegedly brought to Lehman from Deutsche Bank for $10m over years, had been in limbo for the past year after losing out in a bid to run Nomura’s operation in Russia. The Japanese bank took over the Asian and European business of Lehman brothers following the collapse of the Wall Street bank.

Jordan will replace Steven Meehan, who arrived from the US without any prior Russian experience, over two years ago. The two will work in a transition period until Meehan moves to another undisclosed role.

American Jordan quit Deutsche Bank in 2007 where he had co-headed its successful investment banking business.

UBS has been recruiting selectively for senior roles lately. Alexei Sizov, former head of debt at Renaissance Capital, resurfaced at UBS in Moscow, according to a Emergingmarkets.me report earlier this week. Private banker Gregg Robins was also appointed to head its wealth management business in Russia.
