Moscow-based investment bank Renaissance Capital has reported senior appointments in its Cairo, London and Moscow teams.
Nancy Adel Fahmy has been hired as head of financial services research for Egypt, North Africa and the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, according to a statement from RenCap, which mainly specialises in emerging and frontier markets.
She will be based at RenCap’s Cairo office and report to Ahmed Hafez, head of research for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Amr Helal, RenCap CEO for North Africa.
Before joining RenCap, Fahmy worked for 12 years as a sell-side equity analyst, a career that included a job at a major Egyptian investment bank.
For the past eight years, Fahmy has led a financial sector analyst team that covered more than 30 companies in MENA countries including Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Lebanon.
Recently she was put in charge of real estate coverage in addition to her role as a director for financial services research.
In the same statement RenCap, which does business in Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, North America, Asia, Russia, and the Commonwealth of Independent States, announced some internal promotions.
Metin Esendal will coordinate healthcare research from the London office while Artem Yamschikov will oversee transport and infrastructure research from Moscow.
Senior telecom analyst Alex Kazbegi is meanwhile leaving RenCap after spending nearly 17 years with the bank. His telecom research position will provisionally be taken over by Yamschikov.
In October 2018, RenCap reported a year-on-year net profit increase of 35 per cent to $7.5m and an operating income rise of 6 per cent to $78.5m. The reported amounts were based on international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
