The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), a sovereign fund for the promotion of foreign investment in Russia’s private equity sector, has announced a series of top hires, bringing in bankers from Troika Dialog, Alfa Group and other firms.
Directorships have been handed to Richard Ogdon from Troika Dialog, Tagir Sitdekov from Alfa Group, Sean Glodek from Darby Private Equity, Alexei Chekunkov, who worked for Delta Private Equity, and Alec Maryanchik, who co-founded and headed Russian private equity firm Klever Asset Management.
Mikhail Irzhevsky joins the Kremlin-sponsored fund as chief legal counsel and Walid Kamhawi as adviser.
The former has been seconded by law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he is a partner. The latter is a partner at HK Advisory Services Limited, a Dubai-based management and advisory firm he co-founded after a 12-year career at Blackstone Group.
Each member of the new team “brings to RDIF a hard-earned track record of successful investing in Russia”, said RDIF chief executive Kirill Dmitriev. “The team has already identified and begun evaluating a substantial pipeline of potential transactions.”
RDIF, set up in June, has a capitalisation target of $10bn to be attained within five years.
