Sberbank hires Viktor Shkipin, ex-manager at Alfa-Bank, VTB to run marketing, communications

By Andrei Skvarsky.

Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank, has hired Viktor Shkipin, a former head of marketing at Russian lenders Alfa-Bank and VTB, as senior vice-president and head of marketing and communications.

Shkipin’s duties will include oversight of Sberbank group companies specialising in advertising and media projects in addition to managing marketing and communications at the parent company, the lender said in a statement.

Besides being in charge of marketing at Alfa-Bank and VTB, Shkipin had a variety of jobs before joining Sberbank: he headed retail business at Alfa-Bank and financial services at Russian mobile phone operator Beeline, was in charge of marketing at Russian consumer electronics retailer M.video and was retail marketing director at Coca-Cola.

Shkipin is also a professor at Moscow School of Management Skolkovo, where he teaches marketing as part of master of business administration courses.

In his Sberbank role, Shkipin apparently succeeds Marina Zhigalova-Ozkan, who stepped down a few days ago.

Sberbank first deputy CEO Lev Khasis will continue to exercise top oversight of marketing and communications at the bank.
