Sberbank’s Kazakhstan subsidiary to replace CEO

By Andrei Skvarsky.

Sberbank JSC, the Kazakh subsidiary of Russia’s largest lender Sberbank, is due to replace its CEO early next month as incumbent Alexander Kamalov is moving to another role in the Sberbank group and his first deputy, Yeldar Tenizbayev, will take up the reins.

Tenizbayev is scheduled to take his new position on January 6, Sberbank said in a statement.

Tengizbayev held senior posts at the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and Kazakh rail rolling stock operator Kaztemirtrans before joining Sberbank in 2012.

Kamalov, who has been CEO of Sberbank JSC for seven years, is moving to a Russia-based job in the Sberbank group, Sberbank and Forbes said without elaborating.

Sberbank JSC is one of the top banks in Kazakhstan. Lev Khasis, first deputy CEO of the Russian lender, has attributed this to the performance of a “truly professional team” that he credited Kamalov with putting together.
