Sberbank first deputy CEO Lev Khasis has been confirmed as chairman of the board of directors of Rambler Group after the latter became Russia’s largest media and entertainment company by selling nearly half its capital to the country’s biggest lender.
Khasis, who keeps his Sberbank position, will have a one-year stint as Rambler chairman, which is a rotating position, Sberbank and Rambler said in a joint statement.
Sberbank acquired a 46.5 per cent stake in Rambler in a deal closed late last month. A stake of the same size now belongs to investment holding company A&NN, whose founder and main beneficiary Alexander Mamut is to become Rambler chairman after Khasis goes in a year’s time.
Era Capital holds a seven per cent stake in the media group.
Rafael Abramyan was reappointed as CEO of Rambler, which owns more than 30 popular websites and has a monthly unique user audience of 56m.
Rambler has a deadline of the end of 2019 for coming up with a strategy for development and integration into the Sberbank ecosystem.
