Tolar HashNET, a technology firm based in ex-Yugoslav states, has developed and last month test-launched a blockchain platform that the United Nations has listed among projects supporting the Sustainable Development Goals set to the international community by the organisation.
The HashNET platform is a scalable blockchain that can handle up to 200,000 transactions per second.
Its trial prototype, a HashNET testnet, was launched during a blockchain promotion conference in Vitanje, Slovenia, on April 23 that had members of the European Commission, the European Parliament, the UN Economic Commission for Europe, and the governments of Slovenia and Taiwan among its attendees, Tolar HashNET said in a statement.
The testnet is available at https://www.tolar.io for developers to test HashNET’s functionality, make comments or suggest improvements.
The final product – the mainnet – is planned to be ready by the end of June.
A complete recording of the Vitanje conference, which was named the Noordung Forum after Slovene rocket and astronautics pioneer Hermann Noordung, is available on YouTube.
Extra information is available on Tolar Telegram Channel.
Tolar HashNET and the Slovene Economic Development and Techology Ministry were the forum’s chief organisers.
The EU has put 141m euros into digital identity, healthcare and energy blockchain projects under its Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The sum is due to swell to 300m euros by 2020.
