U.S.-based international law firm Winston & Strawn has announced two high-profile hires, recruiting two lawyers specialising in financial services as well as other industries.
Tom Trimble has joined as partner and John Bryant as counsel. Both will work at the Washington D.C. office of the Chicago-headquartered firm, which has 16 offices in North America, Europe and Asia, Winston said in a statement.
Both arrive from Washington-headquartered international law firm Akin Gump, where Trimble was a partner and leader of the firm’s Africa practice and Bryant served as counsel.
Trimble focuses on project finance and private equity, and counsels clients in the energy, telecommunications, mining, heathcare, and other sectors on major international transactions, mainly in Africa and Latin America.
He advises U.S., European, and emerging markets companies and private equity funds.
He “has pioneered energy and telecommunications transactions in a dozen core countries in East and West Africa, including Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, DRC [the Democratic Republic of Congo], and Rwanda”, the firm said in its statement.
Bryant has experience in the private equity and renewable energy sectors and has worked with Trimble for more than a decade.
