Russia’s VTB Capital has hired Daren Wong, previously a senior executive at Bank of China in Hong Kong, as head of high yield trading for Asia, and appointed former Merrill Lynch banker Roger Suyama to oversee Indonesia coverage.
Wong, who will be based in Hong Kong, headed Morgan Stanley’s unit for Asia high yield trading before joining the Hong Kong division of Bank of China, where he was head of credit trading. Earlier on, he worked at JP Morgan Securities, Societe Generale and Barclays Capital, the investment arm of Moscow-headquartered VTB Group said in a statement.
Suyama, to be based in Singapore, will focus on mergers and acquisitions and will try to build ties with Indonesian companies.
Joining Merrill Lynch in 1987, Suyama spent 17 years at the American bank, being responsible for business development in Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. In 2003-2004, he held a top Singapore-based position with Goldman Sachs.
