Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales will be among the more than 80 speakers addressing an anticipated audience of over 3,000 at BlockShow Europe 2018, a planned conference on blockchain on May 28-29, according to a statement from the BlockShow company, the forum’s organiser.
The conference, which has been supported by more than 120 organisations and companies and will take place in Berlin, will delve into various aspects of blockchain technology, and will include an exhibition.
The agenda as published on the conference website covers a wide variety of subjects, including “governmental blockchain initiatives within the EU (and beyond)”, “how blockchain has changed the concept of privacy”, and “will blockchain drive the evolution of the game industry?”
The forum will also address “the most pressing questions of today’s blockchain community”, and hear “insights from central banks” and updates on worldwide blockchain regulations, according to the published agenda.
The audience will, besides, be told about “the whole spectrum of applications” of blockchain in “the most trending global sectors” and about “how blockchain transforms and enhances the major industries of 2018”.
A specially designed app for easier and more efficient networking during the conference will enable users to filter fellow attendees based on their expertise and occupation (investor, startup, crypto fund, etc.) to select those they would like to meet.
There will be other big names among the speakers besides Wales.
They include Bobby Lee, a co-founder of BTCC, China’s first bitcoin exchange; Benny Giang, a co-founder of blockchain-based virtual game CryptoKitties; Plamen Russev, executive chairman of Webit.Foundation, a firm organising vast-scale digital economy promotion events across the world; Mike Butcher, editor-at-large at technology news website TechCrunch; and Llew Claasen, a bitcoin evangelist, a venture capitalist and executive director at Bitcoin Foundation.
“Among conferences, BlockShow is like the Cirque du Soleil of the circus – we stand out from the competitors,” the BlockShow statement quoted company chief executive Addy Crezee as saying.
“We are not your typical conference: we remove standard, official stuff from it and focus on a casual atmosphere where the community feels like home and where people can network and sign contracts.”
Tickets for the conference have gone up in price on two occasions since the event was first announced and are going up again on May 24, but EmergingMarkets.me readers remain entitled to a 20 per cent discount, which is obtainable by quoting the promo code 20EMERGINGMARKETS.
